We work closely with sustainable family farms to provide
exceptional products to discriminating chefs. Originally formed to market lamb,
Vermont Quality Meats has expanded its product line to include a full range of
poultry, beef, pork, artisanal cheese and seasonal green
vegetables.
Our products are raised naturally without the use of
growth hormones or antibiotics. It is our firm belief that this approach
provides the highest quality and best-tasting products. Our meat products are
fresh, not frozen. When we receive an order, we contact the farmer to find the
inventory in the pasture, and in a couple of days we deliver it in our own
trucks to restaurants and gourmet markets in Boston, New York and stops along
the way. All meat is processed at USDA inspected
slaughterhouses.
History: Vermont Quality Meats was formed as a cooperative in 2000 to provide a sustainable profit for its member farms. In February of 2008, two of the member farms purchased the assets of the cooperative to further its mission as a private, for-profit enterprise.
